Gunmen Kill Three Cops In Anambra Military Checkpoint

Three policemen were on Thursday shot dead by gunmen during an attack at a military checkpoint in Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The gunmen were said to have opened fire on the officers who were manning the checkpoint, along Umunze-Ihite road, killing three of them at the spot.

A resident of the area, who preferred anonymity, said the area has been deserted as shop owners were compelled to close their shops for fear of attack since after the incident.

“The incident happened very early in the morning. Three policemen were killed by the gunmen. People ran away because bullets were flying around here,” he said.

A viral video clip, apparently recorded shortly after the attack, shown three bodies of the slain officers lying along the road as well as corner of a building very close to the scene of the attack.
