Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has paid glowing tribute to the late ex-Aso Rock Villa Chaplain, Dr William Uzochukwu Okoye.
Soludo, who paid a condolence visit to the Amatutu, Agulu in Aniocha Local Government Area on Saturday, described Okoye as a distinguished clergyman.
He said Okoye’s life exemplified faith, integrity and dedicated service to God and humanity.
Soludo said Okoye’s contributions to Christian ministry and national development would remain a source of inspiration to generations of Nigerians.
The governor said the late cleric’s service as Aso Villa Chaplain to two Nigerian presidents reflected his commitment to spiritual leadership and service to the nation.
He described the deceased as a man of strong Christian convictions who devoted his life to preaching the gospel, nurturing believers and promoting moral values in society.
According to Soludo, Okoye’s passing is a significant loss to the Christian community, his family, Anambra State, and Nigeria at large.
“Rev. Dr William Okoye lived a life of faith, sacrifice and service. His commitment to God and humanity remains a worthy example for younger generations to emulate,” the governor said.
Soludo urged the bereaved family to take solace in the enduring legacy of the late clergyman and the positive impact he made during his lifetime.
He said although his departure was painful, he was grateful for a life that touched many people and contributed to the spiritual development of the society.
Soludo commiserated with the Okoye family, the Christian community and all those affected by the cleric’s death, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss.
Newsextra24 reports that the late Okoye was buried in his Amatutu country home on Friday.
His burial ended a week-long funeral activities from Abuja to Anambra with attendance by family members, friends, associates and members of the Christian community.
