THE VIP Protection Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been unveiled by the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

In a statement by the NSCDC national PRO, CSC Babawale Zaid Afolabi, Commandant General Audi emphasized the importance of professionalism and advised the members of the new unit to avoid actions that could tarnish the image of the corps.
Audi delivered the charge at the passing-out ceremony of over 501 personnel selected from all state commands across the federation and other formations. The personnel underwent rigorous proficiency training at the corps’ national headquarters in Abuja.
Represented by ACG Augustine Obiekwe, the Assistant Commandant General in charge of Agro Rangers, Audi explained that the unit is tasked with ensuring the safety and security of individuals at a heightened risk of threats due to their status, prominence, and influence.
He reiterated that the primary objective of the unit is to minimize the risk of harm to VIPs and safeguard their privacy while enabling them to carry out their daily activities and engagements.
In his welcome address, ACG David Abi, the Assistant Commandant General in charge of Training and Manpower Development, urged the officers to put their training into practice, emphasizing the importance of meeting expectations.
To meet the responsibility from the Federal Government, the Commandant General approved the establishment of a special bodyguard/VIP protection unit for effective coordination, command, and control training of selected personnel in line with global best practices, as stated by ACG David Abi.
The NSCDC Commandant General approved the appointment of the head of the unit, Assistant Commandant of Corps Donald Anyor, in recognition of his significant contributions to some of the training manuals.
