NEMSA, NDPHC deepen power sector partnership

The Nigeria Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA)  and Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) have strengthened collaboration to improve standards, safety, and reliability in Nigeria’s electricity sector.

Mr Emmanuel Ojor, Head of Corporate Communications and External Relations at NDPHC, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.

The renewed commitment was reaffirmed during a courtesy visit by NEMSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Olusegun Adesayo, to NDPHC headquarters in Abuja.

Adesayo met NDPHC’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Jennifer Adighije, to discuss stronger institutional cooperation.

Speaking during the meeting, Adighije stressed the importance of durable, safe, and standard-compliant infrastructure across Nigeria’s electricity industry.

She described NDPHC as a strategic institution within Nigeria’s power sector because of its roles in generation, transmission, and electricity distribution.

According to her, the company has invested heavily in transformers, substations, transmission lines, switchyards, and line bay extensions nationwide.

“These facilities are critical national assets requiring strict technical and safety standards for efficiency, reliability, and long-term sustainability,” she said

Adighije noted that collaboration with NEMSA had become increasingly necessary as Nigeria modernises its electricity network.

She said improved infrastructure would support better electricity supply for homes, industries, and commercial activities nationwide.

“Every project must comply with international best practices and be designed to stand the test of time,” she said.

She described NEMSA’s regulatory oversight as vital to quality assurance, operational safety, and technical compliance across the industry.

“NEMSA’s inspection responsibilities remain essential for maintaining quality, safety, and compliance within the electricity sector,” Adighije said.

She added that the partnership extends beyond routine regulation and institutional engagements.

According to her, stronger collaboration would reduce technical failures, improve project delivery, and promote operational efficiency.

In his remarks, Adesayo reaffirmed NEMSA’s commitment to enforcing technical standards across electrical installations nationwide.

He said the agency remained focused on protecting lives and property through strict safety enforcement.

“We will continue preventing substandard materials and ensuring projects meet approved engineering specifications before energisation,” he said.

Adesayo said stakeholders agreed that stronger synergy would boost investor confidence in Nigeria’s electricity sector

He noted that ongoing reforms by the Federal Government required stronger institutional cooperation.

“The renewed partnership will strengthen grid reliability, reduce failures, and accelerate stable electricity delivery,” he said.

He added that coordinated regulation, technical compliance, and infrastructure planning remained essential for long-term sector stability.
