38-yr Old man arraigned over alleged receipt of stolen vehicle

A 38-year-old man, Omotayo Solomon was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly receiving a stolen Honda CRV vehicle.

The defendant whose address was not given, is facing trial on a one-count charge of receiving stolen property, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 21, at about 2:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.

Oriyomi alleged that the defendant received a Honda CRV vehicle from Moses Olayemi which was said to have been stolen.

The prosecutor, however, said the owner of the vehicle was yet to be identified.

According to him, the offence contravene the provisions of Section 343 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Olusoji Oladele, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adosun granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Sept. 15, for hearing.
