NDC Closes Presidential Form Sales, Extends Deadline For Other Aspirants

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the closure of the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the party.

The party, however, extended the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship positions from May 17 to May 24, 2026.

Newsextra24 reports that the development was confirmed in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the National Secretary of the party, Ikenna Enekweizu.

According to the statement, the screening of aspirants who had purchased and completed their Expression of Interest Forms will begin on Tuesday and end on May 26.

The party also announced that the collection and return of Nomination Forms for all screened and cleared aspirants would begin on Wednesday and close on May 26.

The NDC warned that no further extension would be granted after the new deadline, urging all aspirants to strictly comply with the party’s guidelines and timetable.

The statement said, “All aspirants are advised to adhere strictly to the stipulated timelines, as no further extension shall be granted beyond the approved deadline.”

The party directed all aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues across the country.

It said aspirants must come with relevant documents, including educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s identification card, NDC membership card and curriculum vitae.

The party added that all submitted documents must be provided in six copies.

The NDC explained that the screening process would be guided by the wishes of the electorate, local peculiarities, capacity, competence and character of aspirants.

It added that the Screening Committee would also consider the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths and persons living with disabilities.

The party further encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus-building as part of efforts to promote unity and reduce internal divisions ahead of the elections.

It stressed that only aspirants cleared after the screening exercise would be eligible to purchase Nomination Forms.
