70-year-old mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa Southwest zone, Tijjani Gaya, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
Hajiya Jaja was taken away from her house in Kiyawa town, Kiyawa council of the state.
The state police spokesman, Lawal Shisu, who disclosed this said the incident happened at midnight on Monday.
According to The Nation, a source from the community said a large number of the assailants, who came in three vehicles, forced their way into the woman’s house and abducted her.
The source added that the hoodlums had not contacted the woman’s family.
But police said their men had been deployed in the bushes to fish out the gunmen and set the septuagenarian free.
