FCCPC Bags Multiple Awards, Nominations From Media, Industry Groups

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has received multiple awards and nominations from media organisations and industry groups in recognition of its consumer protection and market regulation activities.

The commission disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu.

According to the statement, the recognitions came from Daily Independent Newspaper, NaijaTimes, the Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation, and BrandXchange.

NaijaTimes presented the FCCPC with its Institutional Integrity & Public Service Award at a ceremony held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The newspaper’s Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Ehi Braimah, said the award recognised the commission’s role in advancing consumer welfare, promoting competitive markets and encouraging responsible business practices across Nigeria.

Receiving the award, FCCPC Chief Executive Officer Tunji Bello thanked the organisation and said the recognition would encourage the commission to remain committed to its mandate.

He said the impact of the commission’s work on consumers and market integrity mattered more than the awards, adding that the recognitions would strengthen its resolve to promote fair competition and protect consumers.

The statement also disclosed that Daily Independent had nominated the FCCPC for its Regulator of the Year 2026 award, citing the commission’s efforts to fulfil its mandate.

Similarly, the Women Enterprise Alliance, under the auspices of the Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation, shortlisted the commission for its Regulatory Body of the Year Award.

According to the statement, the nomination recognises the role of effective regulation in strengthening enterprise confidence, market participation and sustainable economic development.

BrandXchange also named the FCCPC its Citizen-centric MDA of the Year (Federal) for 2026, citing the commission’s service delivery, achievements and commitment to excellence.

The statement added that senior FCCPC officials, including the Executive Commissioner of Operations, Louis Odion, and the Executive Commissioner of Corporate Services, Ummusalma Isiaku Rabiu, attended the NaijaTimes award presentation alongside the commission’s directors.
