Gov. Ododo reaffirms commitment to traditional institutions

Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions to promote peace, unity and grassroots development.

Ododo gave the assurance in Ankpa on Saturday at the fifth anniversary of the ascension of the Ejeh of Ankpa, Alhaji Abubakar Yakubu II, to the throne.

The governor described traditional rulers as custodians of cultural heritage and key partners in governance because of their closeness to the people and understanding of grassroots challenges.

He commended the traditional ruler for his leadership over the past five years and urged him to sustain efforts to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and development among communities under his authority.

He also called on traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to strengthen collaboration with security agencies to address insecurity and protect lives and property.

He urged traditional institutions to continue bridging the gap between the government and the people by communicating grassroots concerns and supporting development initiatives in education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure.

The governor congratulated the Ejeh on the anniversary and prayed for wisdom, good health, and a peaceful and prosperous reign.
