2027: Amaechi rejects ADC Vice Presidential slot

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed speculations of playing second fiddle in the forthcoming election.

Newsextra24 reports that Amaechi, during an interview on Trust TV, spoke on the battle for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket.

The former Governor of Rivers State declared that he did not buy the ADC presidential form with the intention of later becoming Vice President.

Amechi further stated that if the ADC wants a consensus, then there should be a meeting, and if the aspirants do not agree, everyone would go to the primaries.

He said, “Please stop that. I didn’t buy the ADC presidential ticket to become Vice President.”

Meanwhile, Ameachi has spoken on power rotation in Nigeria, saying the southern region should be allowed to complete its turn in national leadership.

He said leadership in the country has often moved between regions and should continue in a fair way.

In an interview with Trust TV, he pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari served for eight years, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently serving, adding that the South has not yet completed its share of the arrangement.

Amaechi added that while he does not fully support zoning arrangements, he believes rotation should still be considered in the country’s political system. He also encouraged others seeking political office to support his position on the matter.
