A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 42-year-old welder, Solomon John, to three months imprisonment for stealing car battery.
The Magistrate, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, however, gave the convict an option to pay N20,000 fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on April 3, at the Larato Police station Jos by one Victor Ayuba, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the accused removed the battery from the car and was already carrying it away before he was caught by the owner.
The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN)
