THE EFCC has restated its commitment to preventing corruption from further damaging Nigeria’s socioeconomic fabric. The commission urged people to unite and eradicate the hydra-headed monster of corruption from the country.
During a road walk in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, to commemorate the 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day with the theme, “UNCAC @20: Uniting the World Against Corruption,” the Zonal Commander of EFCC, ACE-1 Bawa Hamidu Saidu, emphasized the importance of unity, transparency, and institutional strengthening in the fight against corruption.
Saidu stressed the need for a united front to counter the threat of corruption, declaring, “We cannot allow corruption to destroy this country any further. United we stand as a people against corruption. United we defeat corruption! And united, we take our rightful place.”
He underscored the resolve of the zone to work without interference and to hold corrupt individuals accountable, regardless of their social standing. Saidu highlighted the pervasive nature of corruption in Nigeria and called for collective efforts to combat it, free from interference or blind allegiance to religion, political party, race, or creed.
The EFCC’s determination to confront corruption without compromise was reiterated, as Saidu emphasized the importance of imagining a world truly united against corruption.
