Trader, Designer Docked for Allegedly Assaulting Neighbour

A trader, Rhonda Shabaya, and a fashion designer, Nambam Lucky, were docked in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly assaulting their neighbour.

The police charged Shabaya , 40, and Lucky, 32, both of Jabi Dakibiyu Abuja, with criminal conspiracy criminal trespass, mischief and assault.

The prosecution counsel, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that the complainant, Anyaoha Vivian of the same address, reported the matter at the Jabi Police station on April 13

Nwachukwu said that the defendants entered the complainant’s room and assaulted her after an altercation.

She told the court that the defendants called the complainant names.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the defendants could not give a satisfactory account of themselves.

Nwachukwu said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97, 343,327 and 265 of the Penal Code.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000 each with a surety each in like sum.

Jobbo ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and produce reliable means of identification.

The magistrate adjourned the matter until July 3 for hearing.
