A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year-old trader, Auwal Ibrahim to nine months in prison for buying stolen property.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos in her judgment gave the convict an option of fine of N20, 000 or to spend three months in prison.
She also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N50, 000 to the complainant or spend another six months in default.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the “A” Division Police Station on April 22, by Police officers, who arrested and brought the convict to the station.
Gokwat said that the convict went to the house of one Rhoda Anya and stole 10 door frames, electrical wires, 15 widow frames, 17 different sizes of aluminium frame all valued at M800, 000 .
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
