President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenures of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, and the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, by 18 months.
With the extension, Nandap will now remain in office until June 30, 2028, while Nwakuche’s tenure will end on May 26, 2028.
The Presidency said the decision followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to address a succession gap in both agencies and give the board ample time to appoint successors.
President Tinubu commended both chiefs for reforms recorded under their leadership and urged them to consolidate on the achievements.
Nandap was appointed Immigration boss on February 21, 2024, and confirmed by the Senate on March 1, 2024, while Nwakuche was nominated to head the Correctional Service in December 2024 and confirmed in March 2025.
