LEGENDARY folklorist, Mike Ejeagha, played host to August visitors at his country home in Enugu on 14th August 2024.
The visitors were a team of clergymen, who from all indications are not only fans of the nonegerian, but appeared to have strong knowledge of his evergreen songs, aside from the trending Gwo Gwo Ngwo.
The August visitors made up of Rev Fr.Cliffmario Ojukwu, Most Rev.Ernest Anezichukwu Obodo (Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese), Very Rev. Fr.Prof. Christian Chikelu Anieke, (Vice Chancellor Godfrey Okoye University) and Enugu State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Gerald Otiji made the visit, to celebrate with the iconic highlife maestro, who was seen beaming with smile in appreciation.

The mission of the clergymen was also to pray for him as he continues to age gracefully. The melting point of the visit which saw the visitors appreciate him with cash gift and other food items, was a beautiful rendition of one of his evergreen tunes; “Uwa Mgbede Kanma” (slow and Steady is better) released in 1981 two years before the now trending Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo.
Interestingly, one of the clergymen was seen with a guitar and took it upon himself to render the Uwa Mgbede Kanma, while the others harmonised to the delight of the 93-year-old highlife king, who could not but give the mimicking singer a thumbs up.
One of the underlining message of the song is the submission that ori nike na la nike, ochun gwan gwa na la gbangwa. (Preaching against life of desperation) and advised all to take life easy.
