“Ibadan Tech Community has much more to offer, and we will lead that agenda” – Hon. Balogun Danjuma

The Convener of Ibadan Tech Expo had an interview today, 6th September 2023, at the Jamz 100.1 FM to talk about the event. He highlighted how the vision of the expo was to create a Tech ecosystem that promoted collaboration and innovation in the city. According to him, many Tech enthusiasts and hopefuls had to work in isolation because they believed there was no community in Ibadan. The Ibadan Tech Expo aims to solve that problem by bringing together everyone and giving them the opportunities they need to thrive.

Hon Danjuma further noted: “This event is for everyone because we believe everyone is a Tech bro. As long as you are using a gadget, you have an interest in Tech. Whether you are a coder, frontend developer or storyteller, there are opportunities in Tech and we want to make that easier to access.”  He revealed that there were up to 50 Fintechs in Ibadan and most of them were doing well. “We hope to bring these investors and sponsors to support the ideas of people who are looking to get into Tech or build a startup.”  The event will continue as an annual tradition and currently has a 10-year plan.

The convener expressed how grateful he was for the support of the community. Within 3 months, the event has had over 1700 volunteers and even the support of the Oyo state government. He noted that the director of BudgIT, Seun Onigbide would speak at the event, which was an honour as he was the inspiration for many Tech entrepreneurs from Ibadan.
