Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Monday night officially consulted the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on his 2027 re-election bid, in a gathering that highlighted unity, reconciliation, and political cooperation among leaders of the State.

Speaking during the consultation visit, Governor Eno said the delegation came to appreciate Senator Akpabio for his continued support and commitment to the interest and development of Akwa Ibom State. He noted that the visit was necessary to formally consult the Senate President and seek his blessings and support ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We came to appreciate you and thank you for accepting us and for protecting the interest of Akwa Ibom State. We thought it wise to come home and consult you officially as we undertake this journey,” the Governor stated, while also appreciating the wife of the Senate President for her motherly support and hospitality.

Governor Eno stressed the need for unity among leaders, noting that every reasonable man is concerned about the wellbeing and progress of his family. He assured the Senate President that Akwa Ibom State would fully support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, support Senator Akpabio’s return as Senate President, and also work collectively for the success of his own re-election bid in 2027.

Earlier, the Director-General of Campaigns, Chief Assam Assam, SAN, described Governor Eno as an epitome of hard work, humility, compassion, and service, while commending Senator Akpabio as a national leader who has represented Akwa Ibom State with distinction and dedication.

They commended both leaders for fostering peace, cooperation, and stability in Akwa Ibom’s political environment and pledged the support of their respective constituencies.

The State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, appreciated Senator Akpabio for his earlier admonition to remain loyal and supportive of Governor Eno. He described the Governor as a man who genuinely loves the people and embodies humility in leadership.

Responding, Senate President Godswill Akpabio appreciated Governor Eno and the delegation for the honour done to him through the consultation visit. He condoled with the Governor over the loss of his wife, noting that though she ought to have been part of the visit, “God knows best.”

Akpabio described Governor Eno as humility personified, recalling that he remains the same man he knew during his days as Chief Executive of Royalty Hotels. He commended the Governor for unifying the State and sustaining peace across political lines, while assuring him of his support and expressing confidence in his victory at the 2027 governorship election.
