Airtel Nigeria has completed the latest phase of its School Adoption Programme with a handover ceremony at St. George’s Primary School in Ipaja, Lagos.
The school was among 10 Airtel-adopted schools that received infrastructure upgrades under the programme. The projects included renovated classrooms, improved water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities, as well as new solar-powered ICT laboratories.
The handover ceremony, held on Monday, September 28, was attended by Airtel Nigeria executives and members of the company’s Employee Volunteer Programme. The Airtel team was led by Director of Corporate Communications and CSR Femi Adeniran, Director of Human Resources and Administration Adebimpe Ayo-Elias, and Director of Internal Assurance Ngozi Akamelu.
Regional Operations Director, Lagos, Tomiwa Odunjo, the Corporate Communications and CSR team, and other employee volunteers also participated in the event.
Airtel employee Sherif Kolapo, who is an alumnus and former Head Boy of St. George’s Primary School, also shared his experience with pupils. He reflected on his journey from the school’s classrooms to his career at Airtel and encouraged the students to recognise the possibilities available to them.
