Adamawa State Governor Relaxes 24-hour Curfew

The Adamawa State government has reviewed the 24-hour state-wide curfew imposed following looting of government’s warehouses and private properties by hoodlums under the guise of searching for palliatives in Yola, the State capital city.

The curfew will now start from 6pm to 6am on Monday to enable people continue with their lawful businesses.

The state governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who took to his Twitter handle on Monday to announce the review, said increased security presence will ensure compliance with the order and further maintain peace.

“I, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, have taken the decision to ease the 24-hour curfew imposed across all 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa State. The curfew has been reviewed from 6pm to 6am and will be hourly reviewed. Increased security presence will ensure compliance and maintain peace. Let’s continue working together for a peaceful Adamawa State!,” the governor said.

Reports gathered that Governor Fintiri had declared a 24-hour curfew on the State, following a breakdown of law and order on Sunday.

The development followed looting of warehouses by residents, who carted away assorted foodstuffs and other valuables under the guise of looking for government’s ‘palliatives’.
