Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has urged supporters in Bauchi State to collect money offered by politicians but vote for their preferred candidates.
Makinde gave the advice on Saturday during his presidential campaign rally in Bauchi, where he told supporters that accepting money should not influence their choice at the ballot box.
“Don’t bother at all. When they bring money, it is your money, collect it, but vote your heart and I know your heart is with us and APM,” he said.
The governor urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the country’s current situation to support his presidential ambition, saying his proposed agenda would address challenges affecting the nation.
He described his plan as the Reset Nigeria agenda, which he said would focus on the economy, security and the country’s socio-political environment.
Makinde said the country needed greater inclusivity and a government willing to address national challenges with honesty.
“If you are not happy with the way things are in our country today, if you are not happy that there is not enough inclusivity, if you are not happy that your government cannot tell you the truth, they cannot handle our issues with sincerity, then there is only one part for us, and the part is to reset Nigeria. So, I am asking you today to be a resetter,” Makinde said.
The party’s vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, also addressed supporters at the rally, criticising what he described as the politics of lies, deceit and hypocrisy in Nigeria.
Daura said the APM’s proposed agenda was intended to address those challenges by promoting honesty and sincerity among elected public officials.
He maintained that the party wanted a political system in which people entrusted with government responsibilities would be committed to telling Nigerians the truth.
Bauchi State Governor and APM national leader, Bala Mohammed, also declared his support for Makinde’s presidential ambition.
Mohammed described the Oyo governor as hardworking and committed to inclusive leadership, adding that the party’s agenda offered solutions to Nigeria’s problems.
The campaign rally attracted APM supporters dressed in the party’s colours, alongside party leaders, including its national chairman.
