- Lays Foundation for construction of Dental, Eye Hospital in Biu
- To Flag off distribution of palliatives to 50,000 heads of households in Southern Borno

GOVERNOR Babagana Zulum of Borno state has assured the people of Southern Borno Senatorial District that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will intervene and ensure that the much talked about merger of Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB) with Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), Kaduna as recommended by the Stephen Oronsaye Report did not see the light of the day.

Zulum said, “By God grace, and with President Tinubu by our side, NAUB will continue to remain a conventional University. This is based on the meeting i had with Mr. President last Friday, who asked me to officially write to him on the matter. And I believe he (Tinubu) will act in favour of Southern Borno for NAUB to remain as it is”.
The Governor made this revelation on Saturday when he paid homage to the Emir of Biu, His Royal Highness, Umar Mustapha Aliyu II at his palace in Biu town.
Zulum was in Biu to flag off distribution of food and non -food items as palliatives to 50,000 heads of household drawn from seven local government areas of Chibok, Biu, Shani, Kwaya Kusar, Hawul, Bayo and Askira-Uba.
Zulum before visiting the palace had a brief stop over along Biu- Maiduguri road, where he laid foundation for construction of befitting Dental and 56- bed capacity Eye Hospital in Biu.
While addressing the Monarch, the Governor hinted that he is in Biu to ensure that food palliatives and cash are distributed to people in the Senatorial District and to also commission Water project in Azare, the headquarters of Hawul local government area under the emirate.
The governor said, as a leader, he is much proud of any Biu man anywhere he met with irrespective of political, religious or ethnic considerations, hence, in his last four and half years, his administration has executed numerous people oriented projects in Biu such as the Vocational Training Institute, rehabilitation of College of Education Waka-Biu, General Hospital, schools, boreholes among others.
Zulum maintained that unity is key, and urged the people of the area to unite and rally round his administration to ensure peace, development and progress achieved in the state.
In their separate welcome address, the Deputy Governor who is the son of the soil, Dr. Umar Usman Kadafur and the Emir, Alhaji Umar Mustapha Aliyu II commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his vice, Senator Kashim Shettima and Governor Zulum for their unflinching support to the people of southern Borno and the state in general.
Both said, the unprecedented achievements recorded in Biu specifically and other local governments areas under the present administration of Zulum are too numerous to mention, and pledged to be loyal at all times.
Those on the entourage of the governor include Senator representing Southern Borno, Mohammed Ali Ndume, Borno State Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Bello Ayuba, Commissioners and other dignitaries.
