Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Albert K. Horsfall, former Director-General of the State Security Service, describing him as “a patriot, a disciplinarian, and an embodiment of quiet strength and intelligence.”
In a condolence message issued on Saturday, Governor Fubara said the late Horsfall served Nigeria with “utmost dedication, professionalism, and integrity” during his tenure as DG SSS and set a benchmark in national security and stability.
—“MORE THAN A FORMER DG”—
The Governor noted that to Rivers State, Horsfall was more than a former security chief.
“He was an elder statesman, a mentor to many, and a proud ambassador of our values of service, honor, and excellence. We have lost a patriot, a bridge-builder, and a man of integrity,” Fubara stated.
Chief Horsfall, an illustrious son of Buguma in Rivers State, led the SSS at a critical period in Nigeria’s history and was widely respected across the country’s security and political circles.
—CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY AND NATION—
On behalf of the Government and people of Rivers State, Governor Fubara extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, the Horsfall family of Buguma, the security community, and all Nigerians mourning the elder statesman.
“We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and grants the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the governor said.
He added that Horsfall’s “legacy of service and patriotism” should continue to inspire current and future generations of public servants.
Chief Horsfall’s passing adds to the list of prominent Niger Delta statesmen the country has lost in recent years.
