Two Arraigned over Alleged Assault, Breach of Peace

TWO persons, Eze Daniel and Eze Goodluck, were on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court, Ogun, over alleged assault and breach of peace.

Daniel, 23, and Goodluck, 18, whose addresses were not given, are facing a three-count charge of breach of peace, conspiracy and assault.

The Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the Court that the defendants and others now at large, committed the offense at about 7.00p.m  on Feb. 5, at 64 Tarmac Road, Ota.

Adaraloye said that Daniel and Goodluck conspired to assault the complainant, Adekunle Idowu, and conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

“They accused Idowu of stealing engine oil, they also assaulted him by giving him fist blow,” he said.

The prosecutor further said that the offences contravened Sections 249(D), 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.

Fadairo adjourned the case until April 21, for further hearing.
