Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled terrorists’ movement in Katsina State, recovering a motorcycle during an ambush operation.
The troops of 17 Brigade, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police, acted on intelligence on terrorists moving on motorcycles around Dandume in Dandume LGA.
This was disclosed in an operational update made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
The report said that the troops mobilised and ambushed the terrorists on their way to Funtua, forcing them to flee into surrounding bushes.
It said troops of 1 Brigade also responded to a terrorist attack on motorists along the Anka-Gummi Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara.
It said troops mobilised to the scene but made no contact with the attackers, while some injured civilians were evacuated to General Hospital, Anka, for treatment.
In Sokoto, the report said the troops of the CSI Battalion VII and Forest Guards responded to reported terrorist activities at Kalanjeni Dutse in Tangaza Local Government Area.
It said troops discovered that a civilian had sustained a gunshot wound and was evacuated to Tangaza General Hospital for treatment.
The report added that troops of Sector 6, Operation SAFE HAVEN, rescued a civilian stabbed by unidentified assailants at Zawan Junction in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau.
“The victim, who sustained injuries to his neck and stomach, was evacuated to ECWA Hospital for treatment.
“Meanwhile, the Army Headquarters monitoring team led by Maj.-Gen. Kenneth Chigbu visited the headquarters of Operation SAFE CONDUCT in Ede, Osun.
“Chigbu charged troops deployed for the Aug. 15 governorship election to remain professional, adhere to the Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement, and report security concerns promptly,” it said.
