Rev. Azzaman David, Christian faith advocate, dies in fatal car crash

Rev. Azzaman David, a respected cleric and Christian faith advocate known for his bold online engagements and spirited interfaith debates, particularly on Facebook, is dead.

Rev. Azzaman, the leading pastor of The King Worship Chapel and Ministry, Inc. in Kaduna, Kaduna State, was reported to have died on Saturday in a fatal car accident on his way back to Kaduna from Makurdi, Benue State.

Details of the incident remained sketchy as of the time of this report, but a source close to the family, Rev. Mohammed Mohammed, confirmed that he passed away at the scene.

“RevAzzaman Azzaman had an accident on his way back from Makurdi. He died alone in the car. May he rest in peace. May the Lord comfort us in the name of Jesus,” Rev. Mohammed said in a post on Facebook.

He was widely recognised for his deep knowledge of Christian theology and unwavering defence of the faith in public discourse.

His social media presence, especially on Facebook, made him a notable figure among young Christians and religious scholars.

He often drew large audiences during his live video sessions and written exchanges.

Rev. Azzaman’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes across the country.

Many have described him as a fearless voice, a mentor, and a passionate preacher of the Gospel.

“A great soldier of the Lord takes a bow and goes home to wear his crown of glory after having fought a good fight of faith!” Mustapha Mushas wrote on Facebook.

“This is a huge loss to the body of Christ. Rev. Azzaman stood firm in the face of opposition and taught us how to engage with truth and grace,” wrote another Facebook user.

“He wasn’t just a debater. He was a teacher and a man of deep conviction,” another commented.

Born and raised in northern Nigeria, Rev. Azzaman rose to prominence not through the pulpit alone but through his bold forays into theological debates, often engaging Muslim scholars and atheist thinkers on matters of faith and doctrine.

His approach, while sometimes controversial, earned him respect among peers and critics alike for his deep understanding of scripture, history, and philosophy.

The cleric is survived by his wife and children. Funeral arrangements have yet to be officially announced.
