Renewed Bombings: Borno Government Presents Assistance To Victims

  • Sympathises with Emir of Gwoza, the families of victims

BORNO State Deputy Governor, Dr. Umar Usman Kadafur has led a powerful government delegation to Gwoza Local Government to condole the Emir of Gwoza, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Idrissa Timta and the families of the victims of recent Bomb blast which claimed the lives of nine persons, with nine others sustained various degree of injuries.

 

Recall that the tragic incident occured last Monday 29th January, 2024 along Pulka- Gwoza road when the vehicle conveying the victims, mostly peasant farmers step into an Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDS)/mines planted by unknown people suspected to be members of Boko Haram insurgents.

The Deputy governor and his entourage were received on Thursday at the Palace of the District Head of Pulka by the Emir of Gwoza, Chairman of the council area and other dignitaries, in which special prayers were jointly offered for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for God Almighty to give their families the fortitude to bear the great loss and the injured victims speedy recovery.

Kadafur on behalf of Governor Babagana Zulum while sympathising with the families of the victims, expressed sadness and concern over the great loss, and urged them to consider the incidence as an act of God, while enjoining them to intensify prayers for lasting peace in the state.

He however commended all the security personnel for their untiring efforts in ensuring that relative peace is achieved in the axis, and called on the people to provide them with useful and actionable information or any suspicious person and unusual movement they noticed in the area.

The Government through Borno State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA and Local Government officials immediately identified all the victims and their families, where cash assistance of N300,000 were given to each of the families who lost their loved ones, while N100,000 each were handed over to the injured ones as a token for Sadakat, prayers and settlement of medical bills.

The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Timta commended the state governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum for sending the powerful delegation to commiserate with him and his people over the unfortunate incident, and as well provided cash assistance to th victims and their families.
