Rangers Sacks Coach Philippe Clement After St Mirren Defeat

Philippe Clement sacked as Rangers manager after 16 months

Philippe Clement has been sacked by Rangers after only 16 months in the job.

The Scottish club took the decision following a home defeat to St Mirren on Sunday,

The result leaves the Ibrox side 13 points behind leaders Celtic with 11 games left.

Weeks ago, Rangers’ hopes of winning domestic silverware this season were all but ended, after they lost 1-0 to Championship side, Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup.

The Gers have already lost the League Cup final to their Old Firm rivals.

They will however play in the last 16 of the Europa League.

“Rangers Football Club can confirm it has tonight Philippe Clement has been sacked by Rangers after only 16 months in the job.parted company with men’s first-team manager, Philippe Clement,” the club said in a statement on Sunday night.

“The club would like to put on record their sincere thanks to Philippe for his hard work and dedication during his spell in charge. A further update from the club will follow in due course.”
