Police disburse over N25m to families of deceased personnel in Plateau

The Plateau Police Command has disbursed more than N25 million to families of its personnel who died in active service.

Mr Ayodeji Faniyan, the Commissioner of Police in the state presented cheques to 22 families on Friday in Jos.

Faniyan said that the gesture had provided a life insurance scheme for the beneficiaries.

He particularly described the move as a commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, towards ensuring improved welfare of serving, retired and deceased personnel.

He added that the initiative was part of its commitment towards providing succour to families of its fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

“The Disu-led Police has prioritise timely payment of entitlements to personnel and their families.

“We are currently recording significant improvement in the timely payment of entitlements to serving, retired and deceased personnel.

“This is a sober moment, but we are happy that at least the families of our fallen heroes are giving what is due to them,” he said.

The Commissioner explained that the process was still ongoing, adding that more families would receive their claims base on availability of funds

Faniyan, however, advised the beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely.
