Police detain 2 suspected cable vandals in Akwa Ibom

THE Police Command in Akwa Ibom says it has detained two suspected cable vandals in Odoro Nkit Village in Esit Eket Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Uyo on Monday.

John said operatives of the command successfully arrested two persons for vandalising public electricity infrastructure on Sunday at 7:20 a.m.

She said the suspects (names withheld), a 22 years-old male from Afaha Ekpenedi  and 24 year-old male from Akpautong villages were caught in the act of vandalising Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) cables in Odoro Nkit Village.

According to John, items recovered at the scene include a quantity of PHEDC cables and a Qlink motorcycle with registration number UYY242VC.

He reiterated the police command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
