The police, on Monday, arraigned a 32-year-old man, Bello Ismaila, before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving stolen cattle.
The police prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant allegedly received two stolen cattle from one Abdulkadril Buba around 5 pm on May 21 at Ogotun Ekiti.
Okunade, who said, “The offence contravenes Section 343(1) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021”, urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him, while his counsel, Mr Toyin Oluwole, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A.O Adeosun, in his ruling, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till June 13 for a hearing.
This was as two teenagers, Abdullahi and Bashiru, were also arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Magistrate’s Court over alleged stealing and unlawful entry.
The police prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, alleged in court that the defendants committed the offence on June 3 at about noon at Lane 9 Ifesowapo Area, Bovas Junction in Ado Ekiti.
