Peter Obi Urges Journalists To Sustain Efforts To Safeguard Democracy

Peter Obi Reacts As Tinubu Directs Implementation Of Orosanye Report

FORMER Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi,
has called on journalists to sustain the efforts to safeguard democracy.

Obi, who made the call inAwka during a meeting of the Correspondents Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),
Anambra State council, commended them for their good work as watchdog of the society.

He hailed the media for its unrelenting efforts in carrying out its responsibility and to always uphold professional ethics for
the benefit of society.

The former governor, who was represented by his media aide, Val Obienyem, tasked the Fourth Estate of the Realm not to
relent in playing their roles despite the challenges in discharging their duties.

He said members of the chapel, and other journalists in the state assisted his administration when he was the governor of
the state and pledged continuous support for the media in the state.

Chairman of theAnambra State Correspondents Chapel, Chuks Ilozue, commended the former governor for his
commitment in the affairs of his members and journalists generally in the state.

Ilozue commended the cordial working relationship that existed between members of the chapel and the Obi government,
stating that the chapel would continue to sustain it.
