The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has embarked on grassroots mobilisation initiatives across Sokoto State to secure more support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Newsextra24 reports that the PDP National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Umar Bature, also unveiled a new office to cater for the Sokoto East Senatorial Zone in Gwadabawa Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event on Saturday, which also marked the commencement of the Sokoto East Senatorial District PDP candidate campaign, Bature urged the electorate to consider PDP as an option for national peace, stability and progress.
He said the PDP ruled the country for years and the nation witnessed tremendous transformation and achievements which were enough to secure the party’s victory in the coming elections.
Bature urged citizens not to be distracted by campaign promises, but to consider flag-bearers’ records and their stewardship when they were opportune to serve in public office.
The Sokoto East Senatorial Candidate, Sen. Abubakar Gada, urged people to vote for PDP candidates, stressing that the candidates’ capabilities had proven their ability to discharge responsibilities for national growth and development.
Gada emphasised that when elected, he would facilitate poverty eradication, wealth creation and productive engagements through prioritising education, agriculture and healthcare programmes.
The PDP senatorial candidate stressed that youth and women empowerment would also be accorded priority in recognition of the rising population in the country.
He promised to ensure proactive measures against the lingering security challenges facing the region by pursuing government institutions to live up to expectations on safeguarding people’s lives and properties.
Earlier, the PDP State Chairman, Alhaji Hayatu Tafida, described PDP as the best alternative that would bring an end to the present challenges bedeviling Sokoto State, Northwest and some part of Nigeria.
Tafida pledged to ensure proactive representation by PDP lawmakers at all levels when elected, including the governorship candidate in the state.
The party chairman promised motorcycles and cars for ward and local government party chairmen with the highest votes during the forthcoming elections.
