The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has achieved over 85 per cent “true reconciliation” among aspirants who participated in state assembly primaries.
The party’s House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee Chairman, Pa Mufutau Adisa, said this at a news conference on Sunday in Ibadan.
He said that the committee, which was mandated to resolve issues and grievances arising from the exercise, held extensive engagements with aspirants who purchased nomination forms, stakeholders and party members who showed interest in the electoral process.
According to him, the discussions were conducted in the spirit of reconciliation, unity, mutual understanding, and the collective interest of the party in Oyo State.
Also, the co-chairman of the committee, Chief Abisoye Fagade, while presenting the committee’s communique and resolutions on the reconciliation, noted that the majority of aspirants had demonstrated commendable sportsmanship.
He added that the aspirants expressed readiness to work harmoniously with one another and with the party leadership towards securing electoral victory for the APC in the 2027 general election.
“As part of their commitment, the concerned aspirants pledged their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, as well as APC candidates for governorship, senate, House of Representatives, and Oyo State House of Assembly.
“The list of aspirants who participated in the primaries and have consented to work for the success of the party across the 32 state constituencies in Oyo State would be made available soon.
“I can confidently sit here today and tell you that we had over 85 per cent true reconciliation,” Fagade said.
Also, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, assured party members and aspirants that his administration would run an all-inclusive government that accommodates all groups across the state if elected in 2027.
Alli said his government would be inclusive in terms of gender, geopolitical zone, age, and community representation.
“I have all the time been assuring us that we are going to run an all-inclusive government.
“Inclusive in terms of gender, in terms of geopolitical zone, in terms of age grade, and in terms of disability,” he said.
The senator also pledged to carry all aspirants along in the campaign and governance process ahead of the 2027 general election.
He urged aspirants to “let’s all be on board” and maintain the current momentum.
Alli further promised full administrative and financial autonomy for local governments in Oyo State.
He said the reform would take effect from the first day of his administration.
“I want to assure you, on my part and that of my deputy, that we are going to maintain the tempo.
“I want to assure you that you will not be left behind in the scheme of things,” he said.
One of the aspirants, Mr AbdulRahamon Olaiya, from Oluyole State Constituency, while speaking on behalf of his colleagues, said that they had resolved to work with the party’s candidates in the state and ensure victory for the APC from the federal to the local government level
