Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti has congratulated the First Lady of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday.
Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, said the occasion offered an opportunity to celebrate the First Lady’s virtues, contributions and impact on the lives of Nigerians.
The governor said Mrs Tinubu had acquitted herself well in her role as First Lady, adding that her compassion and various interventions had positively affected many Nigerians since she assumed office in 2023.
He described the First Lady as a pillar of support to President Bola Tinubu over the years and in the administration’s quest to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
Oyebanji also commended her contributions to national development as a teacher, politician, former First Lady of Lagos State and distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He noted that through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Mrs Tinubu had supported Nigerians in areas including education, poverty alleviation and empowerment of vulnerable groups such as widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and market women and men.
According to him, beneficiaries of the First Lady’s interventions also abound in Ekiti, with students receiving scholarships and laptop computers, female farmers benefiting from financial support and farm inputs, while widows and senior citizens had received food items and cash grants.
The governor added that the First Lady had also facilitated an ICT centre at the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, describing her as a friend of Ekiti and a supporter of his administration’s development efforts.
Oyebanji recalled Mrs Tinubu’s recent visit to Ekiti, during which thousands of traders were empowered and a state-of-the-art ICT centre at Ekiti State University was inaugurated under the RHI.
He prayed God to grant the First Lady long life, sound health and continued strength to serve the nation, wishing her many more years of fulfilment and happiness.
