THE National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn in 1,454 corps members for the 2024 Batch “A” Stream II Orientation Course in Jigawa.
The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Jidda Dawut, said this during the inauguration of the exercise on Tuesday at the Gen. Yakubu Gowon Permanent Orientation Camp,
He said the corps members comprised 732 males and 722 females.
Dawut, who advised the corps members to shun cultisim, drug abuse, negative use of social media and vices, urged them to be security conscious and report suspicious characters around them to the appropriate authorities.
He lauded the state government and people of the state for their support towards the successful implementation of the scheme in the state.
Gov. Umar Namadi, congratulated the corps members on successful completion of their studies that qualified them for mobilisation for the national service.
Reepresented by his deputy, Aminu Usman, the governor said: “We, the good people of Jigawa are indeed happy to play host to you in this one year of service to our farherland”.
He expressed the hope that the corps members would remain in the state after their service year and engage in legitimate productive ventures.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Amina Dahiru, conducted the Oath of Enlistment to affirm the corps members. (NAN)
