NSCDC FCT Command Arrests Suspected Vandals, Recovers AK-47 Rifle

THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has apprehended four suspected vandals in the Dabi Bako area of Kwali Area Council, Abuja.

The arrests occurred during a routine patrol by the Command’s anti-vandal team.

One suspect was caught vandalizing armored cables at the National Mathematical Centre (NMC) in Small Sheda, Kwali.

Interrogation of the suspect led to the arrest of three accomplices and the recovery of additional stolen armored cables en route to the market.

The arrested suspects are:

Amodu Lawal, 20, male, Katsina
Zaki Idris, 32, male, Kano
Suleiman Yunusa, 25, male, Kano
Isa Abdulrazak, 38, male, Kano

Further investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted under the provisions of the NSCDC Act, which empowers the Corps to arrest, detain, and prosecute individuals in the name of the Attorney General of the Federation (NSCDC Act Section 3:1f).

In a separate incident, the Anti-Vandal unit discovered an AK-47 rifle without a magazine in a farmland in Abaji Area Council. The farm owner, who found the rifle in his maize field, promptly alerted the patrol team. The rifle has been secured at the Command’s headquarters for further investigation to determine its ownership and origin.

Dr. Olusola Odumosu, NSCDC FCT Commandant, praised the anti-vandal team for their dedication and urged them to continue their efforts in protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of FCT residents. He also commended the farm owner for his prompt reporting and urged other citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agencies.

“We want to assure all residents of the FCT that we will not rest on our oars. We are determined to keep you safe and ensure the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure,” Dr. Odumosu stated.
