The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected car thieves and a suspected vandal in separate operations in the state.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Mr Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, made the disclosure at a press conference on Friday in Kano.
Hassan-Agalama said the two suspected car thieves were arrested during a routine patrol at Ladanai Junction, along the Eastern Bypass.
He said the suspects were intercepted while driving a suspected stolen Toyota Carina II Wagon, red in colour, with registration number LFA 417 AA (Nassarawa).
“The vehicle was reportedly stolen three days before the suspects were arrested.
“Operatives on duty intercepted and arrested the suspects while they were driving the vehicle out of the Ladanai area at about 9:00 p.m” he said.
The commandant also disclosed that the corps arrested a 45-year-old suspected vandal at Bompai, Nassarawa Local Government Area.
He said the suspect, a staff member of Triumph Nigeria Ltd. was arrested for allegedly vandalising an armoured cable belonging to the company.
Hassan-Agalama said all the suspects were in the custody of the corps and undergoing preliminary investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
He said the suspects would be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations.
The commandant commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, saying the arrests demonstrated the importance of routine patrols and intelligence-driven operations in combating criminal activities.
He assured residents that the command would continue to strengthen its operations in collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public to protect lives and property.
Hassan-Agalama urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious activities to security agencies
