The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a young woman over the alleged theft of cash and a mobile phone belonging to a client after they reportedly met at a hotel in the Lekki area of Lagos.
According to police sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when the suspect allegedly disappeared with the victim’s smartphone and an undisclosed sum of money while he was asleep.
The victim reportedly raised an alarm after discovering that both the woman and his valuables were missing. Hotel management reviewed CCTV footage and assisted investigators in identifying the suspect.
Police officers later tracked and arrested the woman at a different location within Lagos. During interrogation, she allegedly confessed to taking the items, claiming she acted out of financial hardship. Some of the stolen property was reportedly recovered.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing. The suspect is expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The police also advised members of the public to exercise caution when meeting unfamiliar persons and to take appropriate steps to safeguard their personal belongings.
