Nigerian Government Fires Back At PDP, LP Over Alleged Anti-people Policies

As Nigerians celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Labour Party, LP, yesterday, accused the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress, APC, administration of implementing anti-people policies they said had made it difficult for many people to celebrate.

The PDP and LP’s criticisms, which came on a day President Tinubu clocked one month in the saddle, elicited immediate response from the Presidency, which accused the PDP of being envious of Tinubu’s achievements in three weeks, saying the president did in three weeks what the PDP could not do in 16 years.

Similarly, the ruling APC urged Nigerians to continue to support President Tinubu because he is taking courageous and decisive steps to reposition Nigeria for rapid economic growth and wholesome greatness.

Eid al-Adha, otherwise known as Eid-el-Kabir or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a highly symbolic Islamic tradition and celebration that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s Command.

PDP cautions APC, FG over anti-people policies

Congratulating Nigerians on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, the PDP cautioned the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Federal Government controlled by the party against visiting anti-people polices on Nigerians and asked the people to use the divine occasion to pray fervently for the triumph of justice and the will of the Almighty Allah in the affairs of the nation.

The PDP also commended Nigerians for their resilience in the face of “most harrowing economic hardship under the APC Federal Government,” and urged them to reinforce their patience, hope and trust in God, despite the prevailing economic, social and security challenges.

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, said: “Our party charges Nigerians not to allow the hardship and sense of uncertainty they face at the moment to make them lose sight of the essence of the Eid-el-Kabir; the demand for selflessness, absolute trust and submission to the will, authority and command of Allah in all issues of life.
