NDLEA Intercepts Vehicle Transporting 942 Explosives Devices To Zamfara

OPERATIVES from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a routine patrol along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway last Saturday, where they successfully intercepted a commercial vehicle transporting 942 explosives concealed in a sack, originating from Nasarawa and destined for Zamfara State.

Newsextra24 reports that the development was confirmed in a statement from the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi.

The agency revealed that a 30-year-old suspect was apprehended in connection with this incident.

The NDLEA reported that during the patrol on May 3rd, they discovered the explosives and arrested the suspect, Nura Sani Muhammad (also known as Nura Hariji).

Additionally, the agency announced the seizure of illicit drugs worth over N3.4 billion in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

This included the recovery of 2 million pills of tafrodol 225mg and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrup on April 29, during a joint inspection of a watch-listed container by NDLEA officers and other security personnel at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, Rivers State, as well as 1,500,000 pills of a controlled opioid found in the Alaba-Rago area of Ojo, Lagos.

The statement said: “Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted no fewer than three million five hundred thousand (3,500,000) pills of opioids and one hundred and sixty-three thousand (163,000) bottles of codeine syrup with a combined street value of over three billion, four hundred and twenty-eight million naira (N3,428,000,000.00) in Port Harcourt, Rivers state and Lagos state.

“The bulk of the seizures: two million pills of tafrodol 225mg and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrup, was made on Tuesday 29th April 2025 during a joint examination of a watch-listed container by NDLEA officers, men of Customs Service and other security agencies at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex, Onne, Rivers state.

“In Lagos, a total of 1,500,000 pills of a controlled opioid were recovered from a suspect Olarenwaju Wahab at the Alaba-Rago area of Ojo on Tuesday 29th April while the source of the consignment was traced to Q104B Road 25, Victoria Garden City, Lekki, which is the residence of one Obinna Kenneth who is now at large.”

Additionally, the announcement revealed that agents at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja seized 42 packages of Canadian Loud—a highly potent strain of cannabis hidden within food tins on a British Airways flight originating from Canada.

The announcement stated that three individuals, including the recipient, Monsurat Ewawunmi Lawson, were apprehended between April 30 and May 3.
