Mr Ladipo Johnson, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Lagos Central Senatorial District candidate, on Monday unveiled his five-point legislative agenda, canvassing support for the party’s candidate, Peter Obi, for the 2027 general elections.
Johnson, who spoke at the official campaign flag-off in his senatorial district office in Lagos, said that his agenda centred on “real solutions and lasting impact.
He said part of his agenda was to put necessary measures in place to address homelessness, support vulnerable residents, provide access to low-interest credit for small businesses and promote investment.
“A better Lagos Central is possible through practical legislative policies.
“We will prioritise constituents’ social welfare, economic empowerment, youth development, infrastructure, healthcare and good governance, ” he said.
Johnson pledged to facilitate technology and vocational incubation hubs, support youth start-ups, rehabilitate public schools and provide tuition grants for brilliant indigent students.
He said that the initiatives would help tackle unemployment and expand opportunities.
The NDC senatorial candidate promised improved drainage, roads, water and transportation, stronger community security, modernised primary healthcare centres and support for vulnerable constituents.
He also pledged to periodically organise quarterly accountability meetings.
“Our people must remain at the centre of representation, ” he said.
Calling for support for Obi, Johnson said that Obi’s agenda focussed on national unity, security, economic growth.
He listed others as human capital development, with a commitment to move Nigeria from consumption to production.
Johnson quoted Obi as saying, “Nigeria can work, and Nigeria must work,” adding that the NDC presidential candidate had pledged to tackle insecurity, poverty and hunger.
He urged Lagos Central residents and Nigerians to support all NDC candidates.
Johnson said that the party’s programmes were designed to promote accountable leadership, economic opportunities and improved quality of life at all levels.
The NDC senatorial candidate said that the overall objective of his campaign was to build a stronger and more inclusive Lagos Central through practical legislative interventions, economic opportunities and improved social services.
“A better Lagos Central is possible with the right leadership, practical policies and a shared commitment to our people, ” he said.
