N-HYPPADEC donates Food items, N5m to Mokwa Flood Victims

N-HYPPADEC recommits to community development

THE National Hydro Electric Power Producing Development Areas Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has donated food items and N5 million to the victims of flood disaster that occurred in Mokwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger.

The acting Managing Director, N-HYPPADEC, Haruna Jimoh-Gabi, presented the items and money to the Niger State Government at Mokwa LGA  Secretariat on Wednesday.

Jimoh-Gabi listed the items to include; rice, spaghetti, garri, mattresses, palm oil, mosquito nets, lifejackets, among others.

He sympathised with the people of Mokwa over the devastation to infrastructure and the death of several people.

He called for a conscious effort and strategic plans to avert the recurrence.

He urged Niger State Government to work with town planners to properly develop the area.

Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Mohammed Yakubu-Kolo, commended the commission for the invaluable gesture.

Yakubu-Kolo assured N-HYPPADEC of judicious distribution of the items to the victims, saying that the gesture would go a long way in reducing the impacts of the disaster.
