MultiChoice CANAL+ adds SportyTV to DStv, GOtv packages across Africa

The CEO of MultiChoice CANAL+ Africa, David Mignot, has announced SportyTV’s addition to selected DStv and GOtv packages in Nigeria.

The move expands sports content available to subscribers, with the 24-hour channel offering live events, news, analysis and highlights.

Mignot said SportyTV was available to DStv Yanga and GOtv Jolli customers, as well as GOtv users in Kenya and Ghana.

He added that the channel complemented existing sports offerings, providing access to more football, basketball and combat sports content.

“SportyTV is a valuable addition to the DStv Access and GOtv Value content offering across Africa.

“It expands the range of sporting events available to customers at an accessible price point,” h said

According to him, the partnership reflects CANAL+’s commitment to delivering quality sports content across the continent.

Meanwhile, Sudeep Ramnani, Founder and CEO of Sporty Group, said the partnership would extend sports access to more households.

“Our ambition has always been to provide African audiences with broad access to sports content and storytelling.

“Through this partnership with CANAL+, we are extending that offering to more households across the continent,” he said.

Ramnani said SportyTV provided additional viewing options that complemented SuperSport’s existing sports programming.

Rendani Ramovha, Director of Sport Content for English and Portuguese-speaking Africa at CANAL+, expressed confidence in the launch.

He said the channel broadened the sports proposition through additional live events and supporting content.

Ramovha said SportyTV’s football schedule included the English Premier League, Carabao Cup, EFL Championship and Women’s FA Cup.

The channel also features La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Spanish Super Cup and South American competitions.

These include Copa Libertadores, Argentina League and Brazil Serie A fixtures, alongside basketball and other sports.

Elias Gallego, Vice President of Business Development, Marketing and Media at Sporty Group, also welcomed the launch.

“Launching SportyTV on DStv and GOtv allows us to extend our reach,” Gallego said.

He said the channel would bring broader sports content to viewers across Africa.

SportyTV will feature club channels including Real Madrid TV, Arsenal TV, Chelsea TV and Manchester City TV.

Additional content includes leagues in Greece and Saudi Arabia, alongside NBA programming.

The channel is now available in HD on DStv channel 236 and GOtv channel 58 in Nigeria.
