Motorcyclist Arraigned Over Alleged Theft of bag Containing N400,000

A 32 year old man, Adetugbowa Ikutuminu, was on Thursday, arraigned before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, for allegedly stealing a handbag containing N400,000.

Ikutuminu, a motorcyclist, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of felony and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 6.00p.m  on Jan. 7, at Stadium Road, Ayeka, Okitipupa.

Orogbemi said that the defendant, snatched a handbag containing N400,000, belonging to the complainant, Precious Adeleye.

“He rode an unregistered black Qlink motorcycle, he ran away after the act, and was later apprehended,” the prosecutor said.

He said that the offences contravened  Sections 412 and 390(9), Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The Chief Magistrate, Olanrewaju Adelegan, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, and a surety in like sum.

Adelegan added that the surety, must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and should present evidence of two years tax payment to the state government.

He adjourned the case until April 16 for further hearing.
