TRAGEDY struck on Monday morning in Trans Ekulu, Enugu, as two young siblings were found dead in their home, allegedly murdered by their mother in what police suspect may be a mental health-related incident.
The horrific discovery was made at No. 47 Unity Road, where neighbours alerted police after sensing something was wrong.
When officers from the Trans Ekulu Division arrived, they found the lifeless bodies of 4-year-old Esther Arinze and her 3-month-old brother, Chibusoma Arinze.
Both children had visible injuries believed to have been caused by a sharp object.
The suspect, identified as Chidima Arinze—their mother—was arrested at the scene without resistance.
Police sources described the incident as one of the most disturbing domestic tragedies the area has witnessed in recent years.
