Man United, Man City finish goalless in De Bruyne’s last derby

THE Manchester derby finished goalless after a game devoid of any genuine quality.

The only first-half chance of note fell to Alejandro Garnacho, who could not make his mind up, but he let Manchester City off the hook.

Andre Onana had little to do before half-time but was busier in the second half, keeping out a couple of well-struck Omar Marmoush efforts from distance.

The final big chance of the match fell to substitute Joshua Zirkzee but he was denied by a pretty routine save from Ederson. The draw leaves City fifth in the Premier League table, while United stay 13th.

Meanwhile, there is no chance of European qualification for Manchester United domestically this season.

They do, however, have a chance of returning to UEFA’s top table next campaign.

Amorim’s men will qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League this term — they face Lyon in the first leg of their quarter-final on Thursday.
