THERE was pandemonium on Thursday when fire broke out at the General Hospital in Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos.
The fire reportedly razed parts of the facility’s three-storey building, causing widespread panic among residents and hospital visitors.
Videos shared on social media showed thick smoke billowing from the hospital, with onlookers calling for urgent assistance.
A Facebook user, Modinat Melemuku, posted footage from the scene and appealed for help, writing: “Happening now at General Hospital Ifako-Ijaiye, College Road. Please repost. Help is needed.”
No casualties had yet been confirmed as of publication time.
However, witnesses expressed fear that nursing mothers and their babies could have been trapped inside the building.
