The Labour Party (LP ) has elected Mr Peter Okoye as its new Chairman, alongside other Executive Members in Anambra.
This followed a successful conclusion of the party’s state congress held on Sunday in Awka.
Other executive members elected by affirmation in accordance with Article 24 of the LP constitution, include Mr Chigbo Ogudebe, Vice Chairman, Mr Godwin Ibekwe, Secretary, Mr Nkemakonam Okoli, as the Publicity Secretary.
Others are, Mr Emma Uduaka, Legal Adviser, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ezenwa, Woman Leader, and Mr Jerry Nnubia, Treasurer.
Speaking on behalf of the executives after the oath of office, Okoye commended members of the party for finding them worthy to pilot the affairs of the party.
He assured the members that they would run an all-inclusive administration and ensure the victory of the party during the 2027 general elections.
He called on the members to cooperate with the new executives to reposition the party in the state.
Speaking at the event, a chieftain of the party, Mr Edozie Ezeugwa, commended members for the peaceful conduct of the congress.
He said that the party was poised to galvanising and harnessing their diverse potentials to place the LP in more political positions in the state and Nigeria at large.
Newsextra24 reports that the party’s congress was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission and attended by delegates from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
The exercise was also supervised by the LP congress committee.
