KOGI 2023: Setback For PDP As Three House Of Assembly Candidates Dump Party

In a surprising turn of events, three former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates for the House of Assembly in the recently concluded general elections have resigned their membership from the party.

In separate resignation letters addressed to the PDP Chairmen of their respective wards and made available to journalists on Tuesday in Lokoja, Hon. Sunday Maiyaki, Hon. Daniel Olorunjuwon Jones, and Hon. Joseph Babatunde Olupeka, explained their reasons for leaving the party.

Hon. Sunday Maiyaki, the PDP Assembly Candidate for Yagba West, stated in his letter to the PDP Chairman of Odo-Eri/Okoto Ward, Odo-Eri, Yagba West LGA, that “I have been a party ardent since 1998 starting from the first National Convention in Jos, Plateau State, but today, I can no longer cope with the array of impunity in the party.

The slogan ‘Power to the People’ is now ‘Power to the Few.’ I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).”

 

He also attached his party membership card and sent copies of the letter to the leadership of the party in the local government areas.

 

Hon. Daniel Olorunjuwon Jones, the PDP Candidate for Mopamuro, in his letter, addressed to the Ward Chairman PDP, Ward 03, Mopamuro LGA, stated, “This is to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of PDP to pursue other interests. Please find attached the original copy of my membership card. I wish the party well in its future assignments.”
